KPV is a tripeptide — lysine, proline, valine — and the smallest molecule in the range. It is the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), the same parent hormone Melanotan II is modelled on, but this three-residue fragment lacks the core sequence the full hormone uses to signal pigment cells. It is commonly researched as a separate line of inquiry into the immune and inflammatory signalling of the melanocortin system, in the gut in particular. Supplied as 10mg of freeze-dried powder per vial, for reconstitution with bacteriostatic water; store at 2–8°C.
